Legion Lake Shore Trail
The Legion Lake Shore Trail is not to be confused with the Legion Lake Trail, which lies in the Black Hills National Forest to the north, across Highway 16 from Legion Lake. This 1-mile loop shore trail shares a section of a spur trail off the Centennial Trail, as part of its loop route. Part of the trail is smooth and easy walking. But, once the trail bends to the west from the southeast shore of Legion Lake, it first ascends rough terrain, and then descends on a rugged path around a large rock formation on the southwest corner of the lake. As the trail approaches the western shore, it once again becomes a fairly easy walk as it passes through the forest. The trail comes around to the Legion Lake Store and parking area as it passes a dock. Fishermen can sometimes be seen there, though you are more likely to see photographers. For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Psalm 62:5-8
